My name is Shelby Huffman. I was born in Sheffield, Al, and I was raised in the small town of Belmont, MS. I developed my love for fashion designing at the young age of nine. Fashion and creativity was never a flourishing aspect in Belmont. I always felt like an outsider looking in, and never fitting into the mold. Unlike most kids, I had my eyes on a bigger goal. I knew that it would take time, but I did not want to give up on my passion. On my tenth birthday, I was gifted my first sewing machine from my parents. My mother was able to teach me the basics of sewing, but it was my grandmother who helped me to develop my skills. Overtime, I quickly began expanding my knowledge through trial and error with the help of innovation. As years passed, my self projects began to be more complex. I then used the internet to learn new skills and techniques for pattern making and design. May 2017, I graduated from Northeast MS Community College with an Associate of Arts with a Concentration in Fashion Merchandising. Immediately following graduation, I attended the University of North Alabama where I graduated May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising & Design.
I currently serve as a Army Reserve Officer, but my desire and passion to expand my knowledge and skills on the civilian side in Fashion still remain. I continue to strive to break into the industry of Fashion, so that I will be able to offer new creativity and perspective to the art of clothing.
